Pevion Trial on malaria vaccine
For Pevion Biotech, the Swiss Tropical Institute/Pharmaceutical Medicine Unit realized in 2004 a Phase Ia single-blind randomized placebo controlled dose escalating study of two virosome formulated anti-malaria vaccine components (PEV 301 and PEV 302). The study in 46 healthy participants was conducted in collaboration with the Swiss Tropical Institute/Molecular Immunology Unit and executed at the Clinical Research Center (CRC) of the University Hospital of Basel. The aim of the trial was to evaluate the safety, tolerability and immunogenicity of the vaccine candidates in healthy volunteers after a total of three vaccine applications. The data obtained will allow rational selection of the optimal dose and formulation for further development.
