These office hours are mainly meant for small advice, e.g., on method selection, simple sample size calculations or programming issues. The contact time for each customer will generally be limited to 30'.

To optimize scheduling, customers seeking support are advised to announce their attendance at least 24 hours in advance by e-mail to the person responsible for the respective office hours. This enables us to assign time slots to individual customers in case of multiple requests.

Data Support

Swiss TPH experts provide support in various areas relevant to health sciences, including study design, collection, management and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data, public health computing, management and analysis of geographic data and bioinformatics.
This support is primarily offered to Swiss TPH staff. However, customers from the University of Basel, including Master and PhD-students, as well as external customers can also get support, conditional on sufficient availability from our side.

Who provides the service?

The experts providing services work in various fields and several Swiss TPH Units. The "one-entry" service platform helps all our customers to get the support they need. In addition, open office hours are provided in various fields (see below). The core teams providing support are:

Costs and payments

The first consultation is free of charge for all customers. Members of the two Research Departments (EPH and MPI) of Swiss TPH benefit from a larger exemption, as Swiss TPH core funding supports this service with an annually defined fixed amount.
The cost per hour is 100 CHF for customers of the University of Basel. A lower price is charged to customers from within Swiss TPH. Higher prices used for other external and commercial customers follow a full-cost model. For customers from Swiss TPH Service Departments, costs will be charged directly to the KST as defined by the customer (usually twice a year). For EPH and MPI customers, the free core contribution is deducted from the invoice. We also welcome services that may result in extended scientific collaborations. This is discussed and planned on a case by case basis.
