Malaria Interventions |
Our group develops systematic reviews and comparative assessments of the impact and cost of vector control interventions. The recently completed Cochrane review on indoor residual (house) spraying – IRS, is just one example.
Since 2002, Swiss TPH has provided core support to the ITN cell located within the National Malaria Control Programme in Tanzania (SDC-supported NETCELL project). Over the past two years, the ITN cell has generated more than 220 million dollars in funding for insecticide treated net programmes on behalf of the government and allowed the distribution of 27 million free ITNs. As a result, child mortality has dropped by 40% in the country.
Finally, a work programme on malaria epidemiology and control is ongoing in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
