Backstopping to infectious disease control in Switzerland
Background
The Mission of the Department of Infectious Diseases of the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health FOPH is to safeguard public health in Switzerland through infectious disease control in collaboration with the cantons, international health authorities and partners. The epidemiological situation of transmissible diseases is surveyed on a regular basis, prevention and control strategies are determined, instructions, laws and recommendations are developed for the medical fraternity and the public. The FOPH provides measures to protect public health from pathogenic germs and perceive risks at an early stage and to contain the effects of possible breakouts of transmissible diseases.
