Medical Department
The Medical Department offers a wide range of services: It gives advice for short- and long-term travellers on preventive measures (vaccinations, disease prevention), provides care for sick travellers returning from tropical and subtropical countries, and maintains a 24-hour service for clinical and diagnostic emergencies. In addition it serves as the National reference centre for imported parasitic infections and is testing repellents and insecticides for prevention of insect bites.
Swiss Centre for International Health – SCIH
The SCIH provides advisory and implementation services to strengthen health systems worldwide, both in the industrialized and developing world. Areas of expertise cover reproductive health/HIV AIDS, health economics and health technology and telemedicine. In addition SCIH is a leading agency in providing conceptual support and monitoring services for global health initiatives, such as the Global Fund to fight HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria..
Department of Medicines Research – MedRes
The Department contributes to the research & development- and implementation process for drugs, vaccines and public health interventions. It offers services in the collection of fundamental epidemiologic data, the conduct of regulatory clinical trials, the product registration & surveillance, as well as the contribution to procedures which allow access to new medicinal achievements in resource limited regions.
