Mother and Child Health Programme
Maternal and infant health is still compromised in Ukraine due to the difficult socio-economic situation and the low quality health services. This programme builds on the achievements of precursory Ukraine – Swiss cooperation projects.
The ongoing programme is designed to contribute to national reform efforts such as decentralized care, de-medicalisation of pregnancies and quality improvement of services and family health. The conceptional approach of the programme is public health oriented and as such targeting not only medical interventions but also managerial aspects, behavioural and social determinants of health. Whereas earlier project phases concentrated on the tertiary care level, the overall programme gradually shifted focus to secondary and primary levels while strengthening the referral system as a whole.
