Christian Auer

Professional activities at Swiss TPH

Christian Auer is s Public Health Specialist at the Swiss Centre for International Health, Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute. His focus is on the control of tuberculosis and multidrug-resistant tuberculosis. He had longstanding experience in development and health cooperation, lived for more than 15 years in the Philippines where he worked for three years with the Global Fund Principal Recipient and with the Sub-Recipient responsible for the treatment of MDR-TB cases. Christian Auer has extensive tuberculosis consultancy experience mostly for the Stop TB Department of WHO, but also worked on consultancies regarding drug-resistant TB in Lesotho for GLC and Azerbaijan for the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). As a Public Health Specialist and TB Expert of the Health System’s Support Unit he has done more than 70 GDF (Global Drug Facility) desk audit reviews and is involved in data quality audits regarding TB for the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (missions to Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and DPR Korea), various TB-related short-term assignments and in between also in Local Fund Agent (LFA) services (e.g. Cambodia in 2010, The Gambia 2012)
