  • Develop a conceptual framework and methodologies for assessing zoonotic disease burden in livestock and in humans
  • Implement intersectoral public and veterinary health research in case studies to assess the impact of zoonotic diseases on the poor in key livestock production and marketing systems; test and evaluate cost-effective control strategies for priority zoonoses and health services for pastoralist populations in sub-Saharan Africa and Asia

  • 1998;  Veterinary Dissertation ‘Epidemiology of Newcastle Disease in Switzerland’ at the Institute of Virology and Immunoprophylaxis, Switzerland
  • 2002; PhD in Epidemiology at the STI ‘Human and animal health in nomadic pastoralist communities of Chad: Zoonoses, morbidity and health service’ at the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the University of Basel, Switzerland
