Karin Wiedenmayer

Professional activities at Swiss TPH

Karin Wiedenmayer, PharmD, is a Senior Pharmaceutical and Public Health Specialist at the Swiss Centre for International for Health, Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute. Karin Wiedenmayer has a background in clinical pharmacy and extensive experience in the area of management of medicines in international health. She has worked in US teaching hospitals, with regulatory agencies and the pharmaceutical industry. Her main interests relate to improving access to medicines, the promotion of rational medicine use and capacity building with a focus on health system development in low and middle income countries. Through her involvement in worldwide assignments in programme assessments, monitoring and evaluation, and project management she has longstanding consultancy and field experience in development cooperation. For tropEd and GIZ she teaches pharmaceutical public health, takes supervisory roles and coordinates graduate courses on medicines management in international health. For the Muhimbili College of Health and Allied Sciences in Tanzania she teaches clinical pharmacy; in Switzerland she directs the academic postgraduate program FPH for pharmacists.
