Teaching

Statistics and epidemiology teaching is provided within the programs of the University of Basel. Within this program we organise the following courses:

Biostatistics I:

  • Data description, summary & presentation
  • Basic methods for continuous data.
  • Basic methods for categorical data
  • Introduction to Generalised Linear Models
  • Introduction to Generalised Linear Mixed Models
  • Introduction to Survival Analysis
  • Introduction to concepts of Bayesian statistics

Each session correspond to 1(1/2) hour lecture and 1(1/2) hour practicals in STATA software. The course is open to all University members.

Biostatistics II, University of Basel. Annual statistics course during the summer semester for postgraduate students with a biomedical background. The course will cover topics on Bayesian statistical modelling and inference. It is open to all University members. For further information about the time table, please click here.

 

Advance Topics in Biostatistics, University of Basel. It runs during the autumn and spring semesters, 2h every 2 weeks. It is like a Journal club, students present topics of interest. It is optional for the Master's degree of Infection Biology and Epidemiology.  



We also teach on the following courses:

TODO: Link to course URL Course in Health Care and Management in Tropical Countries (HCMTC), run by the Swiss Tropical Institute. This is an annual three-month diploma course accredited by TropEdEurop for the degree of Master of International Health.

European Course in Tropical Epidemiology, a two week Introductory Course in Epidemiology, held each year in a different location.
