First-Hand Experience in Daily Clinical Practice
The course aims to provide an overview of the medical priorities and the spectrum of clinical tropical diseases in South East Asia.
The course participants will join ward rounds in various in-patient departments, attend out-patient clinics, discuss clinical case presentations with colleagues, and visit other hospitals (Setthathirat Hospital, Friendship Hospital) and selected secondary health facilities in the vicinity of Vientiane.
Students profit of an excellent teaching faculty. Details can be found in the course brochure.
An Interactive Programme
To ensure maximum interactive teaching and training, all clinical activities will be conducted in small groups of no more than 5 participants. The clinical learning experience will be complemented by state-of-the-art lectures, covering clinical core topics and recent research advances.
In the second week of the course, the participants will gain practical experience with laboratory diagnostic methods for parasitic diseases and with the use of ultrasound in the field by conducting a field survey in a rural village community within driving distance of Vientiane.
