Gastro-concept - Concept to assess the burden of disease and socio-economic impact of acute gastroenteritis and campylobacteriosis in Switzerland

Human campylobacteriosis, one cause of acute gastroenteritis, is only registered in the notification system if a patient consults a physician, the physician requests stool testing and the laboratory test reveals a positive result. Consequently, cases registered in the National Notification System for Infectious Diseases (NNSID) provide an incomplete picture of the disease burden due to acute gastroenteritis. This project aims at reviewing the literature and identifying knowledge gaps to develop different study outlines for investigating this burden of disease at the population level in Switzerland. In a second step, the most promising study outlines will be further developed into full study proposals.
