HIV Testing at Home

Home-based HIV testing and prompt treatment with antiretroviral therapy increases the number of patients under treatment as well as treatment success.

This is the key result of a clinical trial in Lesotho carried out by the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute, in collaboration with SolidarMed and the Government of Lesotho.

24 March is World TB Day

Swiss TPH commemorates World TB Day on 24 March. We actively support the fight against tuberculosis, from basic research to implementation at health systems level.

For his research on  the mechanics of combination therapy against TB, Andrej Trauner, scientist at Swiss TPH, receives this year's Swiss TB Award.

New Understanding of Parasite Biology

Researchers at Swiss TPH made an important step toward deeper understanding of how malaria blood stage parasites turn the switch to become transmissible to other humans. The results were published on Friday 16 March 2018 in the multidisciplinary journal Science.

28 January is World Leprosy Day

Leading leprosy organisations have joined forces to launch a Global Partnership for Zero Leprosy to accelerate progress towards a world without this neglected tropical disease.

Swiss TPH was involved in the creation of the partnership, representing the scientific community.
