WB Niger WASH Cash transfer - Impact Evaluation Baseline Survey Integrated WASH/Cash Transfer Program in Niger (Sahel Adaptive Safety Net Program)

SCIH/Swiss TPH was mandated by the World Bank with the implementation of the survey “Baseline Survey for the Impact Evaluation of the Integrated WASH/Cash Transfer program in Niger”. The national sub-contractor for the implementation of the survey is the Réseau International Schistosomiases Environnement Aménagements et Lutte (RISEAL)-Niger.

The objective is to prepare and conduct a baseline survey in the period May – September 2017 to evaluate the impact of a WASH / Cash transfer pilot study and to provide a comprehensive dataset to the World Bank impact evaluation team.

The following data are to be collected:

 Full survey:

  • Household questionnaire. Key variables of interest: diarrheal incidence among <5 years old children, anthropometric status of <5 years old children

  • Anthropometric measurement of children (weight, height, mid-upper arm circumference (MUAC))

  • Water testing: Point of collection and point of use water quality (E. coli, nitrate, free and total chlorine residual)

    • Microbiological contamination of weaning foods

    •  Qualitative survey (11 villages) with focus group discussions on norms towards sanitation

The total sample of the survey will include approximately 3500 households in 155 villages in the departments Dosso, Maradi, Zinder, Tillaberi and Tahoua.
