Dr. Bettina Friederike Schwind

PhD, MA, is coordinator of the MAS Insurance Medicine in the unit postgraduate training of the department of Education and Training at Swiss TPH. She holds a PhD in Public Health and Epidemiology from the University of Basel and is an alumna of the graduate school of Gender Studies of the University of Basel. Her PhD focused on aspects of women's health and empowerment. She has a master degree in Southeast Asian Studies as well as Geography from the Humboldt University of Berlin and she has passed the 2nd state examination in human medicine at the University of Lübeck. She worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the area of patient education with emphasis on the empowerment of chronic ill migrants at Careum Research, the research department of health sciences at the Kalaidos University of Applied Sciences in Zurich. Before her PhD she was living in Vietnam and Cambodia working on social health insurance aspects and equity with regards to ethnic minorities.
