Environmental Epidemiology and Risk Assessment

This unit deals with health effects from a variety of physical and chemical contaminants (i.e. ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, air pollution, noise, environmental tobacco exposure) as well as other environmental and lifestyle related exposures such as allergens, climate, environmental microbial exposures or physical activity. Depending on the exposure, different types of outcomes are of interest. Current studies are dealing with atopic and respiratory diseases in children and adults, childhood tumors, cardiovascular diseases, neurodegenerative diseases and health related quality of life. This unit consists of two research groups led by Charlotte Braun-Fahrländer and Martin Röösli.
