Gender and Health

To what degree does being a woman or a man affect a person’s health? Does gender influence whether we smoke or not, whether we seek help or not, whether we wear a hearing aid regularly or not or what type of care we get? If so, what are the underlying reasons and associated factors? Does our gender identity influence our behaviour? Does gender matter for health professionals? How is it linked to the culture we live in? These are the kinds of questions that the Gender and Health unit is addressing. Ultimately, it seeks solutions for improving health through gender-sensitive approaches.
