Parasitology in the Tropics

(this course is mainly in German)
The "Tanzania Training Centre for International Health" in Ifakara, Tanzania, which was inaugurated in December 2005, offers a unique infrastructure for for teaching and training. It hosts several international courses every year and is situated right next to the Ifakara Health Centre, a successful research institution, and the St. Francis Designated District Hospital, a renowned facility with 370 beds.

In these surroundings we will carry out for the 4th time a course about parasitology in the tropics. The event  aims at learning or refreshing the knowledge of diagnostic parasitology relevant for the diagnosis of imported parasitic infections in Europe. The varied programme includes work in the laboratory, field surveys and an insight into the everyday life of working in a medical profession in Tanzania.
Of course some typical african experiences will not be missed, be it a cruise on the Kilombero river in a dugout canoe or an overnight stay in Mikumi Nationalpark, where you get to know the representatives of the african fauna in their natural environment.
The course is taight by experienced parasitologists from Switzerland in collaboration with our partners in Ifakara. It is custom-made to laboratory personel, but other interested specialists are welcome, too. The course is taught in German but includes some English lectures.
