Our People
Swiss TPH is home to around 1,000 professionals from 96 nations, working across disciplines such as epidemiology, medicine, parasitology, social sciences, and education. Our success is built on this diversity of expertise, united by a shared commitment to improving global health. We foster an inclusive and collaborative environment where innovation, excellence, and mutual learning thrive. Many of our staff actively contribute to national and international boards, expert panels, and scientific committees.
Leadership & Governance
Swiss TPH is led by a Managing Board, chaired by the Director, which is responsible for the institute's operational leadership. It oversees strategic planning, finances, internal governance, and organisational development, and represents the institute nationally and internationally.
The Board of Governors is our highest decision-making and supervisory body. It defines the strategic direction of the institute, and oversees governance, budget and risk management.
Departments
Swiss TPH is organised into five specialised departments that combine their expertise across disciplines to tackle global health challenges. Our teams work in research, education and services to ensure a comprehensive and integrated approach to improving public health worldwide. This interdisciplinary setup allows us to translate science into impact at scale.
Global Presence
With 23 offices and around 180 staff based abroad, primarily in Sub-Saharan Africa and Eastern Europe, Swiss TPH has a strong global presence. Our local offices enable close collaboration with communities, local health authorities and implementing partners – ensuring that our work is relevant, context-sensitive, and sustainable.
We have been working closely with six key institutions in Tanzania, Côte d'Ivoire, Chad, Laos, Papua New Guinea, and Peru for many years. These partnerships strengthen our ability to implement research findings in real-world settings and contribute to sustainable health solutions.
Through student exchanges, joint training programmes, and on-site capacity building, we foster two-way learning and long-term professional development across regions.
