EFQM - Re-certification to strengthen excellence in Research, Services, Education and Management
Project Abstract
Swiss TPH is now taking the next step towards excellence according to EFQM (European Foundation for Quality Management), after the management system was comprehensively externally assessed by the Swiss Association for Quality SAQ at the end of 2022 and awarded the 3-star ‘Recognised by EFQM’ label.
The aim of this re-certification is i) to anchor and further develop the quality awareness in the entire institute, ii) to map the management system of Swiss TPH to the ‘EFQM Excellence Model 2025’, and iii) to integrate the three instruments defined and approved by the ILK:
- Define key performance indicators for the 2025-2028 strategy period and make them available to the highest management for steering Swiss TPH
- Conclude the 2021-2024 strategy period with a comprehensive sustainability / impact report to the attention of the Swiss TPH key stakeholders
- Fully integrate the existing ‘Unit/Group Governance Factsheets’ as an annual self-assessment as a basis for the periodically executed external evaluation
Benefit for the institute: Working with the EFQM Model 2025, whose basic concept follows the PDCA (Plan Do Check Act) quality cycle, helps Swiss TPH to establish and continuously improve institutional processes, including strategy implementation, project management and employee engagement, thereby fostering a culture of excellence throughout the institute.
The EFQM label enhances Swiss TPH's credibility with internal (employees, management as well as the board of Governors (Kuratorium)) and external stakeholders (SERI, cantons BS/BL, University of Basel, Swiss Federal Audit Office and third-party funders) by demonstrating commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
As an umbrella for all internal quality management systems, EFQM provides benefits for external audits and inspections at project, process/programme and unit level and streamlines quality assurance efforts across Swiss TPH.
