People & Leadership
Our people
Swiss TPH brings together professionals and students from more than 90 nations, with expertise spanning epidemiology, medicine, infection biology, social sciences, public health and policy.
This diversity of knowledge and perspectives enables us to address complex health challenges and develop solutions that are scientifically robust and locally relevant.
We foster an inclusive and collaborative environment where innovation, excellence and mutual learning thrive.
Leadership
Swiss TPH is led by an Executive Team chaired by the Director. The Executive Team is responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of the institute, including institutional development, financial oversight and the implementation of Swiss TPH’s mission.
It represents Swiss TPH nationally and internationally and ensures alignment across research, education and applied activities.
Board of Governors
The Board of Governors is the highest supervisory and decision-making body of Swiss TPH. It defines the strategic direction of the institute and ensures that Swiss TPH fulfils its mandate from cantons of Basel-Stadt and Basel-Landschaft, the Swiss Government (State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation) and the University of Basel.
Global presence
Swiss TPH's work is shaped by the people in the 20 countries where we have offices. Those outside of Switzerland are staffed predominantly by local professionals whose expertise, networks and contextual knowledge are central to our work.
The local teams work hand in hand with communities, health authorities and implementing partners, shaping responses that reflect each country's needs and priorities.
Headquartered in Switzerland, Swiss TPH maintains a global presence through offices worldwide. In Europe, we have offices in Albania, Kosovo, Moldova and Ukraine. Across Africa, our offices are located in Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Chad, Côte d'Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, The Gambia, Guinea, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Rwanda, Senegal and Tanzania.
