Swiss TPH just published its Annual Report 2025, highlighting a year of research, education and implementation activities across 135 countries.

In 2025, we worked on 416 projects worldwide. The Annual Report showcases selected examples of our work, including new treatment options for children affected by schistosomiasis, research on mental health of Swiss farmers and long-standing efforts to strengthen health systems in Ukraine. These activities are part of our mission to improve health in Switzerland and globally through research, education and partnerships.
The report also reflects the increasingly difficult environment facing global health. Swiss TPH's total revenue decreased from CHF 104.9 million in 2024 to CHF 98.1 million in 2025. The decline was largely driven by reductions in international funding for global health projects and programmes, including the withdrawal of USAID, cuts to development cooperation budgets in Switzerland and Europe and reduced research funding. Swiss TPH is responding with targeted cost-saving measures and efforts to broaden our funding base. Despite the challenges, Swiss TPH secured 88 new projects and renewed mandates in 2025.
The uncertain funding landscape is putting at risk the progress achieved in global health over the past decades. Early analyses suggest that funding cuts are already affecting health services and disease control programmes, leading to a resurgence of diseases such as malaria, tuberculosis and non-communicable diseases.
"At a time when progress in global health is increasingly under pressure, our work is more important than ever," said Jürg Utzinger, Director of Swiss TPH. "Through research, education and long-term partnerships, we improve people's health in Switzerland and around the world while reinforcing Switzerland's role as an innovator and trusted partner in research and international cooperation." Continued investment in science, education and international collaboration will be essential to build on past progress and address the health challenges of the future.
