Improve Health Systems and Population Access
The Swiss Centre for International Health (SCIH) was established in 1997 and is a service department of Swiss TPH. Our objective is to strengthen health systems and improve health service delivery – with a particular focus on low and middle income countries.
SCIH is a leading provider of global health consulting and project implementation services. We leverage in-house, world class researchers in malaria, tuberculosis, neglected tropical diseases and One Health, and combine state of the art knowledge with industry consulting standards. Additionally, we are a WHO Collaborating Centre for Health Technology Management and eHealth. As such, we provide policy guidance and contribute to capacity building in the fields of health informatics and appropriate health technologies.
As a not for profit organisation, SCIH offers its clients evidence-based, tailor-made and pro-poor solutions to impact population health. Our services include: policy advice; project design and management; operational research; monitoring and evaluation; organisational and capacity development; health information systems.
Multidisciplinary and Multinational
Our interdisciplinary, international teams are based in over 20 countries, have experience of working in over 90 more, and speak all the world’s major languages. SCIH staff work with partners to respond to local needs, thus tailoring the services to the contexts and countries. We apply a system strengthening, multi-level approach and work alongside local, national and international partners. Our clients include multilateral and bilateral donors, global health initiatives, development banks, philanthropic organisations, the private sector and Swiss Federal Health Agencies.

Mission Statement
Improving Health Systems Worldwide
The Swiss Centre for International Health (SCIH) contributes to improving health systems and population access to effective health services worldwide. It combines scientific knowledge and practical expertise to reduce inequalities in health.
In strengthening health systems, our approach is to offer comprehensive, interdisciplinary and multisectoral services, covering project or programme identification, planning, implementation, and monitoring & evaluation. Our services are based on evidence developed by the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH) and its wider network of collaborators. The experiences of our collaborators feed into the teaching provided by the Swiss TPH.
Our guiding principle is to work with partners to respond to local needs, thus tailoring our services to the contexts and countries we work in. The SCIH combines the state-of-the-art knowledge of a multidisciplinary academic institution with the industry standards of a consulting agency.
The Swiss Centre for International Health is a department of the Swiss TPH in Basel, Switzerland, and works on a non-profit basis. Any benefits generated are reinvested in creating knowledge and providing training in the field of international health.
