Medical Services is a centre of excellence for travel and tropical medicine. Through the Centre for Tropical and Travel Medicine, it offers pre-travel advice and post-travel treatment to travellers from Basel and the surrounding region. It is the largest centre of expertise for tropical and travel medicine in Switzerland and advises around 16'000 clients every year.

Together with the Swiss TPH Diagnostic Centre, it acts as the National Reference Centre for Malaria, offering a wide range of services to doctors and hospitals throughout Switzerland, and carries out reference diagnostics for malaria and confirmatory diagnostics for other non-endemic parasitic diseases on behalf of the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH).
