Helen Prytherch, PhD, MPH

Helen Prytherch is a Public Health Specialist and Head of Unit at the Swiss Centre for International Health. By training a registered nurse and qualitative social scientist, she has 25 years’ work experience gained at all levels of the health system across a variety of countries in Asia, Latin America and sub-Saharan Africa. Helen Prytherch's main areas of expertise comprise health system strengthening, health financing, quality management and human resources for health. She has a particular interest in interdisciplinary and multisectoral approaches to health issues and wider questions of nutrition and hygiene. 

Helen Prytherch has consolidated management experience, overseeing a team of 18 staff working from Basel. She has a track record of sensitively and successfully handling complex mandates, including those involving multiple stakeholder consultations and evidence based policy-making. She has substanial consulting experience for a range of clients such as the European Union, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, World Health Organization and the Roll Back Malaria Partnership.
