Consultancy to lead development of a global consensus statement on HIV-related stigma

To inform and shape future research and strategic priorities in the global response against HIV-related stigma, the International AIDS Society (IAS) has convened a panel of international experts, including civil society representatives to provide feedback and reach consensus on a number of key issues emerging from a recent systematic review of the peer-reviewed and published evidence on HIV-related stigma frameworks, measures and interventions. Additionally, data, evidence and measurement of HIV-related stigma by community, and from  funding mechanisms such as the Global Fund's Breaking down Barriers, and the Stigma Index 2.0, the consensus building process aims to:

  • Highlight the evidentiary and programmatic/implementation gaps in the measurement of HIV-related stigma, as well as in the reduction of HIV-related stigma at scale, including identifying barriers preventing progress
  • Provide expert opinion on the main challenges faced in utilizing existing data and evidence to inform global and national level policy and programs for HIV and related issues.
  • Articulate the main research, programmatic and strategic priorities in the global effort to reduce HIV-related stigma at scale and suggest recommendations The purpose is to build consensus on the main challenges faced in the global effort to reduce HIV-related stigma at scale, to inform research and strategic priorities in the global response against HIV-related stigma.

The consensus achieved through this process will be documented and submitted for publication in a peer-reviewed journal.
