iNTS FVVA - Full Value of Vaccines Assessment for invasive Non-Typhoidal Salmonella Vaccines
Project Abstract
Various types of salmonella infections cause around 350,000 thousand deaths a year, with 60% of those caused by typhoid. The full value of vaccines project aims to understand the value of investment in the development of a single vaccine targeting both typhoid and non-typhoidal salmonella. Our contribution to this project is to estimate the relative cost-effectiveness of typhoid vaccination in all countries on the African continent. We use dynamical transmission modelling to estimate the impact of typhoid vaccination, then estimate the economic burden of typhoid, and use both these estimates to carry out a cost-effectiveness analysis.
