Peter Odermatt, Prof. Dr., leads the Bachelor, Master and Doctoral Unit of the Education Department and the Helminth Epidemiology and Control research group at the Research Department of Swiss TPH. He holds an MSc in Medical Parasitology, a PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Basel, and an MPH from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health (Baltimore, USA). After three years of postdoctoral research in Burkina Faso and Mauritania, he worked for several years in helminthiasis control programs in Cambodia and co-directed a postgraduate training center in tropical health in Vientiane, Lao PDR, for six years. At Swiss TPH, his research, teaching, and training focus on the epidemiology, control, and health impact of helminth infections, including schistosomiasis, food-borne trematodiasis, and soil-transmitted helminthiasis, with a particular emphasis on Lao PDR and Cambodia.
