Environment and Health

Swiss TPH explores the health impact of many environmental exposures ranging from indoor and outdoor air pollution to climate change, electromagnetic fields and noise. In large population-based cohort studies, experts examine the relationship between these environmental factors and personal genetic disposition. They try to better understand the causes of chronic diseases such as respiratory diseases, cancer or cardiovascular diseases. Such knowledge is needed to implement effective prevention strategies in Switzerland and all over the world.

A Comprehensive Understanding of Health

Swiss TPH assesses heath from the level of the single molecule to the humans in their social and natural environments. They conduct health impact assessments of large infrastructre projects such as mines or effective strategies to improve the health of mobile populations. Research results are provided to governments, health authorities and the people in affected countries.
