Unit | Project and Grant
The Project & Grant Unit (PGU) is keeping in touch with stakeholders in research, service and training projects worldwide, including researchers and experts, partner and funding organisations, as well as our internal project leaders.
The unit's members have extensive expertise in science, management, organisation, project development and law to support Swiss TPH and its partners throughout the entire project life cycle.
The team assists with institutional project processes and competitive grant applications, maintains an up-to-date project database, and handles contracting and agreement issues.

Entry point for Funders and Partners
If you are an external funding organisations or potential partners who wishes to inform Swiss TPH of upcoming funding opportunities or open calls, or if you would like to express an interest in collaborating with us, please email us at pgs@swisstph.ch. We welcome both your offers and requests.
Project development in partner alliances
In promoting research, teaching and service projects in interdisciplinary partnership, PGU is streamlining collaborative project developments with partner organisations in both the South and North in a sustainable manner and in accordance with our key areas of activity and the SDGs.
Grant Office pre-award activities
PGU provides advice on funding strategies, assists with strategic go/no-go decisions, promotes the harmonisation of in-house activities and supports Swiss TPH scientists in applying for third-party funding.
Post-award grant management
The unit is conducting grant management of large collaborative research projects where Swiss TPH acts as consortium lead.
Leading House Africa
PGU fulfils Swiss TPH’s leading house function, supported by the University of Basel, for bilateral research collaboration with partner institutions in sub-Saharan Africa.
Mandated by the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI), the Leading House promotes and fosters scientific cooperation with key institutions in sub-Saharan Africa for the funding period 2025-2028.
Quality development
PGU provides a quality-assured and maintained project database for internal portfolio and external reporting purposes, and contributes to the regular updating and implementation of the Swiss TPH strategy.
