openIMIS Capacity Building - Global online training course for openIMIS

As more countries stive for UHC and USP, the number of interested and engaged stakeholders increases, adding to the organizational complexity of healthcare systems. The OpenIMIS Initiative presents an Information and Communications Technology solution for managing complex (small or large) operations. Being a flexible system, it allows for consideration and adaptation to the range of needed requirements presented by insurers, technologists and eHealth/Governance experts, especially relating to interoperability, modularity and technology choice. The overall goal of the OpenIMIS Initiative is “to contribute to the gradual inclusion of hitherto exluded populations into social health protection schemes by improving schemes’ data and information management capacities through the use of OpenIMIS.” The broader Initiative seeks to nourish the relevant communities to consolidate as a Global Good for Digital Health.

As part of this vision, this project aims at improving the capacity development offering by the Initiative. It aims to provide easy access to the manifold OpenIMIS capacity building elements, by optimizing their structure, integrating them in a modular learning package and making them available as a self-paced certified OpenIMIS e-learning course (in English) hosted on a global online training platform. This platform will present a central resource in capacity development of existing as well as new members of the OpenIMIS community on using the software. Contents and formats of the global implementation support will shape and convey the spirit of an engaging OpenIMIS community and its capacity building measures that are geared towards enhancement of the OpenIMIS software, widened use and implementation cases in social protection with an agile and competent community supporting it.
