About Swiss TPH

For over 80 years, we have generated scientific evidence, strengthened capacity and created solutions that reach millions. From malaria and tuberculosis to cancer and climate-driven health risks, we tackle some of the most pressing health challenges of our time.

Associated with the University of Basel, 950 people from more than 90 nations work in partnership across more than 120 countries, taking science to impact in Switzerland and worldwide.

Our vision

To make the world a healthier place.

Our mission

We advance global health through research, education and partnership, creating an impact in Switzerland and worldwide.

What guides us

→ Health is essential. Health shapes how societies function and how futures are built. Improving health underpins social stability, economic resilience, and sustainable development. Without health, progress stalls.

→ Evidence enables progress. Advances in health depend on rigorous science tested in real-world settings, shaping how innovations are developed, validated and applied, and ensuring that interventions are safe, effective and scalable.

→ Equity creates impact. Health solutions create lasting impact when they reach the people who need them most. This means creating interventions that are accessible, affordable, and relevant to the diverse contexts they are designed for.

→ Partnership is at the heart of everything. Progress in health depends on collaboration with partners, grounded in trust and sustained over time. The most complex health challenges cannot be solved alone. Partnership enables us to combine expertise, share resources, and generate greater impact, together.

Our values

Our work is guided by four core values:

✔ Courage – We dare to be bold and take chances.

✔ Integrity – We do what is right, even when it is hard.

✔ Passion – We use our enthusiasm to make an impact.

✔ Respect – We value others and embrace differences.

Research

We generate scientific knowledge to better understand diseases, health systems and environmental influences on health.

Education

We train the next generation of global health leaders through postgraduate programmes, professional training and capacity strengthening.

Impact

Our discoveries and evidence translate into action — shaping policies, strengthening health systems and improving health where it matters most.

From discovery to evidence to action – our interdisciplinary teams collaborate with partners worldwide to turn scientific insights into real-world solutions.
